107: Real talk about the taboo topic of childcare as ambitious women with Katrina Stark, Lauren Kerr and Chani Thompson

This week we got to have a conversation that is close to our hearts both as mothers and women in business, with our dear friend Katrina Stark. Katrina has been a woman in our lives that we have not only been inspired by in business but parenthood, and have constantly turned to for advice, guidance and mentoring on parenting and child care options.

So we wanted to open up the conversation to other ambitious women who may also want to have the chat around child care options, and get an insight into other women’s worlds who have the desire to have and be BOTH a present stay at home mama but also a thriving successful business or career so you can get some ideas on how you can do both and what they may look like for you and your families values.

In this episode we talk about:

  • What inspired us to what to have, do and be BOTH a mum and a business owner

  • How all three of us have personally juggled business and how that has changed with our children’s ages

  • What we are going to do differently with our second babies

  • The difference between traditional day care and family day care

  • Building and running businesses with and without external support

  • At what point in our own journeys we started to outsource child care or get extra help and what drove those decisions

  • Our personal experience and opinions on ‘mum guilt’, ‘shame’ and mental health.

  • Exploring out of the box options that allow you to work and live in alignment with your values - working in nap windows, nannies, homeschooling, parent share
